KTM 1390 Super Duke R — RevSync Review
The 1390 Super Duke R — KTM’s ultimate streetfighter. Brutal power, precise chassis and advanced electronics tuned to make the extreme rideable.
Jump to Quick FactsFirst Impressions & Ride Summary
The Super Duke R is unapologetic — aggressive sound, immediate power and razor-sharp responses. It rewards precise inputs and also feels composed when you need to cruise. Electronics are mature and make the bike approachable without diluting its character.
In everyday traffic it keeps composure; on open roads it transforms into an absolute apex hunter.
Design & Ergonomics
Sharp, sculpted and unapologetically KTM — the Super Duke R’s design is functional theatre. Rider triangle is aggressive but not crippling; the seat and pegs place you in a forward stance ideal for precise control at speed.
Fit and finish is premium on close inspection: quality switches, a crisp TFT, and well-damped controls.
Engine & Performance
The 2-cylinder, 75° V-twin is liquid-cooled, DOHC and delivers a broad spread of usable power. The updated spec lists 180 hp (134 kW) at 9,500 rpm and 140 Nm at 8,000 rpm — translating into fierce acceleration and strong midrange tractability.
Transmission is a 6-speed with PASC slipper clutch; Quickshifter+ enables clutchless up- and down-shifts. Fuel delivery is via electronic fuel injection and the bike meets Euro 5+ emissions compliance.
Top speed is around 280 km/h (claimed) and the engine character is tuned for both street usability and track performance.
Handling & Chassis
Chromium-molybdenum steel trellis frame (powder coated) provides torsional stiffness with predictable flex. WP Apex 48 mm forks and WP Apex linkage shock (both fully adjustable) are tuned to offer a wide range of setup from comfortable road bias to aggressive track damping.
1491 mm wheelbase and a kerb weight near 199 kg give a planted feel while still being remarkably agile for its displacement class.
Braking
At the front there are dual 320 mm Brembo Stylema monobloc discs with 4-piston radially mounted calipers and dual-channel ABS with cornering ABS. Rear is a 240 mm disc with single-piston caliper and dual-channel ABS. Braking hardware and electronics are designed for high-speed stability and strong modulation.
Tyres, Dimensions & Ergonomics
Standard tyres are 120/70 ZR 17 front and 200/55 ZR 17 rear. Seat height is 835 mm, ground clearance is 149 mm and wheelbase is 1491 mm — the geometry is focused on fast-change direction and high-speed stability.
